The First Years miPump Double Deluxe Electric Breast Pump

Comment: First of all, I pump exclusively because my daughter has trouble latching, so I use this pump ALOT. This is my second one, my first one lost suction, but that was actually because I wasnt following the directions. I keep reading reviews from people who had the milk back up into the tubing, and this is what happened with the first one I bought. But if you read the instructions, it says right before use to flip the flap on the valve down, and that failure to do so could result in your pump not working properly. I have done that with the new one and have not had any problems with it. I was NOT doing this with the first one.

This pump works really well, I love the adjustable suction levels and the handle for one-handed pumping so i can read a magazine or eat lunch while I pump. I have't used all the adapters, but the one for the storage bags works well. I also really like the tote bag and the bottle cooler, since I have to pump her bottles or she cant eat it is nice to have a way to keep them cool while I am out, although if I am going to be out for a long time I would need a better insulated cooler. For a few hours it is sufficient though.

The only thing I would possibly change is that it is a little loud. But all in all this is a great pump, especially for the price.

Comment: I had the same issue as everyone else, milk started leaking into the tubing and the pump lost a lot of power (after about 6 months of using 1-2 times a day). I called their customer service # and asked if I could have replacement parts sent to me even though the pump was past its 90 day warranty, and the customer service representative, Leah, was very sweet and helpful and is sending me a whole new pump, set to arrive in about a week. She said to make sure I'm sitting up straight when pumping, and to boil the gaskets about once a week to make sure they're not sticking. She's also sending me a few extra sets of tubing, in case milk gets into them again. I was all set to have to buy a new pump, and was pleasantly surprised to find that I don't have to! Thanks to the First Years for standing behind their product!

Comment: I bought this pump after reading the good reviews. wanted something small i could take around with me, It takes a half an hour to pump an ounce and then looses suction when the milk gets into the connection where the breast flange connects to the top thing. It was frustrating. I am quite disappointed. It takes too long for too little. The attachments and bottles are nice, but i don't like the nipples (two peice jobs) that come with it. it was a waste of time for me.

Comment: I bought this pump not intending to pump, but as a "just in case". I ended up using it regularly since my son wouldn't latch well when he was born. After about 2 weeks of use, the milk went into the tubes somehow. About a week later the pump died. The company sent another one and even on the lowest setting the pump was too strong and caused my nipples to bleed. You can't buy replacement parts, so if milk gets into the tubing you're out of luck.

Spend the money and buy a decent pump. This is a piece of crap.

Comment: I originally bought this pump to take with us on a trip, instead of lugging my big Madela bag with us in the plane. I ended up using it a lot after that as well (4-5 times a day). It does take a little longer to pump with this vs. the Madela. I would also reccomend that you apply some sort of nipple cream prior to pumping. I had some mild pain/pinching feeling when I first used this pump, but once I applied the cream the pain was gone. I love the fact that it can be used as a double OR single pump. The extra attachments are nice to have if you need to pump into another type of bottle. I have not used the handle for one hand pumping, so I can not review that part.

I only gave it 4 stars because after 6-7 weeks of daily use one of the sides lost suction strength. The company was VERY helpful. They sent me out a brand new pump within a week of calling. I just had to use it as a single pump while I waited for the new one to arrive.

It's a great little pump at an affordable price!
