The First Years miPump Double Deluxe Electric Breast Pump

I have had no problems with this breast pump and I have been using it for about 2 months. I only pump once a day sometimes twice a day but it works great. I like that I can pump both sides at once if I want to or I can pump just one side. I also love the breastflow bottles that come with this pump.


Update~ I have recently had problems with this pump leaking at the threads while pumping. Plus you can not order replacement parts for this pump.

 

First of all, I pump exclusively because my daughter has trouble latching, so I use this pump ALOT. This is my second one, my first one lost suction, but that was actually because I wasnt following the directions. I keep reading reviews from people who had the milk back up into the tubing, and this is what happened with the first one I bought. But if you read the instructions, it says right before use to flip the flap on the valve down, and that failure to do so could result in your pump not working properly. I have done that with the new one and have not had any problems with it. I was NOT doing this with the first one.

This pump works really well, I love the adjustable suction levels and the handle for one-handed pumping so i can read a magazine or eat lunch while I pump. I have't used all the adapters, but the one for the storage bags works well. I originally bought this pump to take with us on a trip, instead of lugging my big Madela bag with us in the plane. I ended up using it a lot after that as well (4-5 times a day). It does take a little longer to pump with this vs. the Madela. I would also reccomend that you apply some sort of nipple cream prior to pumping. I had some mild pain/pinching feeling when I first used this pump, but once I applied the cream the pain was gone. I love the fact that it can be used as a double OR single pump. The extra attachments are nice to have if you need to pump into another type of bottle. I have not used the handle for one hand pumping, so I can not review that part.

I only gave it 4 stars because after 6-7 weeks of daily use one of the sides lost suction strength. The company was VERY helpful. They sent me out a brand new pump within a week of calling. I just had to use it as a single pump while I waited for the new one to arrive.
