With both of my other 2 children I used lanolin based nipple creams but couldn't stand the stickiness and the gooey feeling. I also don't think it ever worked very well for me. I was still always sore even though my babies had correct latch on. This time I tried Nipple Butter (I was able to get it at my local Target). WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I started using it in the hospital. That is when the sore nipples started w/ my prior kids. I only used a teeny tiny bit and I noticed I never got sore nipples during my stay. However for me it has been a total disaster as I have developed awful allergic reaction and am in agony. I called lacatation specialist out today in tears thinking it was a feeding issue and she diagnosed it. I am not allergic to any nuts, so I had not considered it would have any problems. shea butter and almond oil are ingredients and that has been my trigger for the nasty reaction. She said she has seen an increasing number of allergic reactions to alternative creams from this one to mustela as well. SO... take it into consideration when purchasing. I may of course be a random uncommon reaction, but I felt I had to send up a red flag on my experience too, as I would not want anyone to experience this result. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: The First Years Lanolin Free Nipple Butter, 2 Ounce (Baby Product) This is a more thinner constinecy than lanolin, so I like it alot better. The last thing you want to do on sore nipples is rub something rough onto it. |
