The First Years Breastflow nipple is perfect for breastfed babies. It is the only bottle nipple that features a nipple-within-nipple structure that stimuates the breastfeeding motions of suction and compression enabling baby to go back and forth between breast and bottle more easily. Breastflow is available as part of The First Years Disposble Bottle System and works with Ziploc Brand Disposable Bottle Liners and other bottle liners.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gives the little one a workout, June 29, 2011

Though breast feeding is our ideal, the wife and I needed a solution for when I needed to take care of feedings. Initially, we used a set of Playtex drop-ins with low flow nipples, but would have to take the bottle away every few sucks to get our little lady used to not getting a lot all at once, as advised by a lactation consultant. We chose these because (according to the box) they are supposed to help encourage proper breast feeding technique. The difference between these and the Playtex was immediately obvious upon use. With the Playtex, our girl could suck down 2oz in a flash, while with the First Years bottles she would have to work at it for a good 10-15 minutes. In observing, she appeared to make the same level of effort and similar mouth movements to get the milk from the bottle as she did from the breast, which is exactly what we had been hoping for.

If she passes out before finishing off the bottle, all the milk sitting between the nipples goes back into the...Read more

My husband and I wanted to a make sure we'd have a way to feed our baby when I return to work and asked our lactation consultants to recommend a bottle. They recommended this one. We found it at babies-r-us and amazon and decided to buy one to try (as well as a tummy tipee just in case!). Our experience has been great!
After trying both we decided to stay with Breastflow because she seems to do better controlling flow, not chocking and alternating with the breast.
What we like: 1) our baby has no problem taking this bottle and the breast interchangeably 2) she does not choke when she is fed (which happened with the tummy tipee because the flow is too much for her) 3) they are super easy to clean - I actually throw away the disposable liner when she's done and clean the nipples and ring along with the pump in the medela microwave bag) 4) she does not get any more gas than she does at the breast and drinks to the last drop -no waste, no leaking) 5) she "latches" to the bottle...Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Not so great and extra leaky!, November 25, 2011

We bought these because we liked the idea of the dual nipple system to create less nipple confusion for our baby, but given the function of these bottles, I'm glad we only got one set. The two nipples with the additional sealing ring didn't create a good seal and we had multiple times where it either leaked, or the whole top just popped off (luckily when the baby was almost done feeding, I hate wasting any breastmilk). We tried it without the sealing ring, and while the top screwed onto the bottle easier, it leaked even more. We ended up switching to Dr. Brown's, at the recommendation of our lactation consultant, and have had no leakage problems, plus it has the anti-colic system that helps prevent air getting into baby's tummy. We've just started using them so we'll see if that is correct, but at least they don't leak!
