He was exclusively breastfed for the first year of his life (with enough milk stored to last him another two months, until he was about 14 months old). I am about to have my second child and plan on using the same system, as it worked so well with our first child. I am a school teacher, and after my maternity leave was up, I needed a way to pump and store milk for longer periods of time (as in several weeks ahead of time). I am a busy person, and didn't want to have to clean bottles all the time, so the drop-ins system looked good in that regard. However, I did not want to spend a fortune on the storage disks/lids in these kits, and I figured that I would have to do this if I wanted to store the milk in the drop-in liners longer than a week. BUT I found a really good alternative that worked for me. Here's what I did: I bought 2 or 3 Playtex Breast Milk Storage Kits. I would pump directly into the drop-ins liners...Read more 34 of 34 people found the following review helpful: By lrene "lrene" (Bellingham, WA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Playtex Drop-Ins System Breast Milk Storage Kit (Baby Product) I have a medela pump in style and also an ameda purely yours, these work with both pumps. My little man is getting breastmilk only. He has not had any formula or supplement and I have been back at work for a month. I will not lie, pumping enough for his daycare feedings for an 8 hour day is a lot of work. I have to pump 16 oz per day for the four bottles he will need the next day. In the evenings when I get home I don't want to spend all my time cleaning bottles. My son took to the playtex nursers right away and I have never had any trouble with nipple confusion. He switches easily from bottles to breast. The nursers are great because I don't have to wash the four bottles he used at daycare; just the nipples, rings, and caps. I wash the bottles every three days in the dishwasher instead but they never look like they need it. What I didn't like about the nursers was that they weren't compatible with my pump so I would pump into other bottles then pour...Read more 31 of 35 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Playtex Drop-Ins System Breast Milk Storage Kit (Baby Product) This is the 2nd time I've used this system because it was what my Playtex pump recommended. It's very convenient because you don't have to transfere milk, just pump, store, heat, and eat! The draw backs, they tend to fill up a freezer quickly because they are not very compact for storage. You have to make sure you have enough sealing disks because if not you can't pump and store it. The kits tend to be expensive since you need so many to get a good enough stock going. I wish I'd known before buying these that the Medela pump and store bags fit the Playtex nursers that these fit into which are more compact for storing and work the same way the liners do. They are also WAY less expensive to use since you can get many more bags that self seal (zip-lock type) in a package vs. this kit which only has a few sealing disks. Bottom line, explore other options if you're looking to save money. These are nice but I don't see the difference in convenience between these and the Medela milk storage...Read more |
