The Isis breast pump is a one-handed manual pump (no batteries or electrical hookups are required) with a silicone diaphragm and soft cushion "petals" that work together to mimic breastfeeding. The soft "petals" in the cushion send a message to the breast to stimulate a natural let-down reflex, and the silicone diaphragm creates a vacuum to help express more milk quickly and quietly. Many moms claim that this manual pump can express the same volume of milk in the same amount of time as the larger electric pumps. Dishwasher safe. --Deb Oroszlan

I find it to be easy and efficient to use...and I've been using it for over a year. It is THE BEST hand pump on the market. I ALSO have a Medela Pump N Style double electric pump...but I must say that the Avent Isis works just as well. I alternate between the two types of pumps depending on my schedule. I keep my Pump In Style at work...as it is faster to pump both sides at once...but I use the Avent Isis at home and on weekends...or if I am going to be away from the office for business travel, tradeshows, or off site meetings. It is compact and small and easy to pack for the day or a trip, etc. It is comfortable...you have a lot of control over the suction...and I can express just as much milk with this hand pump as I can with my electric pump. All of the Avent products are fantastic. I can't recommend them more highly. My biggest advice to anyone looking into breast pumps is NOT to buy ANYTHING sold by formula...Read more 385 of 387 people found the following review helpful: By A Customer This review is from: Philips AVENT Isis On The Go Set (Baby Product) I tried several "NEW" electric/battery designs before I found this manual set. It is the best! I was worried about going back to work and having to pump every 2-3 hours and make so much noise in the restroom. Yet I was also concerned about the length of time I thought a manual pump would take. This back-to-work set was the answer to both of those concerns! I made sure my milk supply was well established (it only took three weeks for me before I started pumping). I was able to pump 4-6 oz in about 5 minutes and up to 9+ in under 10 minutes (and absolutely silently!) The washable breast pads were great for night, but I used super thin ones during the day. The pump is easy and fast to assemble, and easy to clean. I stored the bottles right at my desk and the ice packs kept them cold all afternoon. And now that I am not nursing anymore, the two 4 ounce bottles and two 9 ounce bottles that are included with the set are always in use for his formula. He won't drink from any...Read more 114 of 115 people found the following review helpful: By "firsttimemom" (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Philips AVENT Isis On The Go Set (Baby Product) I am a first time mom to a newborn who has problems latching on when I try to breastfeed, mainly because he has a tongue thrust. I resorted to pumping to help maintain my milk supply and continue giving my son the benefits of breast milk. This back to work set is definitely worth the price! I also have a Medela Pump In Style and both products work just about the same, although the Avent Isis is definitely quieter. I can express the same amount of milk as I would using the Medela Pump In Style - usually about 4-6 oz. in 5-8 minutes. The set packs into a discreet "lunch bag," so you can feel comfortable taking it to work and keeping your milk cold thanks to the freezer paks. I also like the fact that you can actually see the milk spray into the funnel. I think the secret to this successful product are the petals that help to stimulate the areola when you pump - very similar to your baby on the breast (this also helps maintain milk supply). Although I wouldn't recommend this...Read more |
