3.0 out of 5 stars Little time consuming to close but no bottle washing, August 15, 2008

I got these milk bags to use with my Ameda pump. They attach by use of twist ties (which come with the bags) to the pump. Once you are finished pumping into them you have to remove the air, fold the plastic top down and then close with the twist tie. It is much faster to close the Medela milk bags (they have a ziploc top) but these don't attach to the Ameda pump. If you want to avoid washing your bottles and have an Ameda pump, then you need these bags.

These are a reasonable choice for milk storage. The plastic is very sturdy, so unlike some bags (Lansinoh in particular), you don't have to be hyper sensitive to the risk of the bags banging around your freezer and developing small tears in the plastic that cause leaking when thawed. Never had any problem with leaking, even though you seal by rolling the bag closed around a twist tie.

The tool to remove air from the bag is a real pain. It is awkward, and you can easily lose milk by squeezing it out the top. I had several occasions where, while struggling with the tool, I dropped the bag and lost a lot of milk. A ziplock would be a more reasonable sealing choice. You can make this system work, but do not try it if you are groggy or rushed.

Also, the primary reason I got these was because they could twist tie onto the pump horns and I wouldn't need to pump into bottles and then transfer into storage bags. But the ounce markings on the side of these bags are...Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars No leaks!, July 15, 2007

My hospital nurse gave me these to use after having my son and I've continued to use them. I haven't, after three weeks, experienced any problems pumping directly into these bag or freezing them. I haven't had leaks and they thaw out very easily. I put them in a ziploc bag to freeze them just to add an extra layer of protection. I do wish they came in bigger quantities and were a bit cheaper. But, I wouldn't consider using any other bag after reading the horror stories of other bags.
