I got these thinking that they would save me some dishes by being able to pump directly into them from my freestyle pump. The idea is a great one but practically they don't work well for me freezing milk in preparation for going back to work

I could pump directly into the bag but the problem is that the ounce measurements are not accurate and they barely hold 5 ounces. I wouldn't have known this but I watched a you-tube video done by a pumping mom and she was right, the measurements are way off.

The other problem is that due to the holes for the adapter it is almost impossible to pour milk in without spilling it (especially when you are being distracted by an infant).

I discovered that the Laninoh bags hold twice as much have 2 seals and are easier to pour into and freeze flatter. I will try to use up my medela bags but I will not be buying them again

I just went back to work having a stash of around 150 oz of milk in these bags. Next thing I'm getting a call from my husband saying that my daughter is refusing the milk (we never had this issue before, she would happily drink my previously refrigerated milk). When we smelled the milk, it had this distinct chemical-plastic-y-sour odor... I initially thought it might be an issue with my milk such as excess lipase. I thawed some other bags (5week old and a few days old) and they all had the exact same smell. Surprisingly, I had a few samples of Lansinoh bags and I thawed two of those as well, and the milk from them had no such smell. When I opened a new pump and save bag, it had this smell, just a little more faint. When I called Medela customer service they said they have never had any reports of similar issues with pump and shave bags. I use these every single day and they work great! I have had a leak 1 time when thawing, but I have thawed out many, many bags so I suppose it is bound to happen at some point. My only complaint is that I wish they came in different sizes.
