I bought this product because I have been nursing and pumping since my son was born, and he is now 8 months old. I had been using the battery pack a lot in the car and decided I could save money by just buying the lighter adapter to use instead of wasting so many batteries. I found this lighter adapter to be weak in power compared to the batteries and the AC Adapter. I have yet to use it and get any decent amount of milk. With batteries and the AC adapter, I can pump for 10 minutes on one side and get 4 or 5 ounces. I would not recommend buying this because it does not have enough power.

I purchased this prior to returning to work from maternity leave. However, I ended up using it even before that during a long drive to visit family one weekend. The adapter allowed me to pump while my husband drove and our little man snoozed in the back. I just threw on the nursing cover that I use for breastfeeding, and then hooked up to the light plug-in as we headed down the highway. I have a 2010 Pump in Style model and didn't notice a difference in the power as compared to the AC adapter. Now that I am back at work, this has come in handy when I needed to pump while at off-site meetings. I would suggest getting the Medla wipes if you are going to be using this in the car a lot...they make things a lot easier when there isn't access to water for cleaning.

Took a Thanksgiving road trip, 3 hours on the road for baby to meet her great-grandmother. My wife has a pumping routine that put her needing to to pump half way through our drive. Instead gambling with batteries, we opted for the 9V adapter. The Medela Pump In Style Advanced Backpack box had a misleading advert about the 9V adapter, at a glance it looked like was included in the set... its not! A bit deceptive if you ask me, but if you read it clearly says that this is an add-on you can purchase separately for this pump. I'm glad I read it and remember the model number. I may have ended up with the 12V model instead since vehicle lighter outlets are 12V power sources. But no, if you have a Pump In Style Advanced you need this 9V adapter. You're safest consulting your manual or looking at the pump.

This power adapter allowed my wife to pump while I drove. To be discrete she used a Hooter Hider...Read more
