This review is from: Lansinoh Breast Milk Storage Bags, 50-Count (Health and Beauty) After discovering that Madela bags can make your milk smell and taste rancid, I switched. But, I also did a little comparison work:
Lansinoh bags can hold up to 6 ounces of breast milk. Medela bags can hold up to 5 ounces of breast milk. Lansinoh: On the simplest level, the Lansinoh bag is easier to open and pour milk into than the Medela bag. The reason I find it easier is because of the material the bag is made out of and the bag is more pliable. You open the bag by removing a small strip that is perforated on the top. There are two seals on these bags, which is a huge plus. It's a comfort in preventing leaks. The reason why Lansinoh wins the freezing process is because they lay flat very well. The Medela bags only have a single zipper, and I had a lot of problems with bags leaking through the opening either during freezing or thawing. Also, the Medela bags only hold about 5 oz, so that meant having a LOT of bags to keep track of. The Lansinoh and Simplisse hold 8-10oz each. The Lansinoh bags were our next shot. While they have a double zipper, the bags are super thin. Consequently, we would have a lot of problems with bags leaking elsewhere - either through an undetected puncture or through one of the seams. I would guess about 1 in 4 bags would spring a leak when thawing. The Simplisse bags have a double zipper and are thicker than the Lansinoh - though not quite as thick as the Medela. In the box and a half we've used so far, I've had probably 3 leaks - and 2 of which were definitely my fault (the bag froze around the edge...Read more 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful: By Doctor Mom "Laura" (Milwaukee, WI USA) - See all my reviews |
