These are an absolute lifesaver for me when my baby arrived. My son was moderately tongue-tied which created difficulties with achieving a proper latch during breastfeeding. The first couple days of breastfeeding were excruciating as a result, and i quickly developed scabs on my nipples. I tried lanolin, aquaphor, the Medela gel pads, Lansinoh Soothies, and these Ameda Gel Pads. I definitely prefer the gel pads over the lanolin and other creams. Of Medela, Lansinoh, and Ameda, the Amedas are by far the best hydrogel pads. After my son's tongue-tie was fixed and we were able to get a good latch, these pads helped heal my nipples in about a day and a half.

I like these the best of all the hydrogel pads I've tried (Medela was way too sticky on tender skin for example). They are a good size (though they do shrink up as the week goes on as they lose moisture). You rinse them off after using and put each one back in their own clear plastic liner until next use-- it's nice that they come with a place to keep them. I put them back slightly damp after rinsing, to slow the moisture loss. Sometimes I store them in the fridge for cooling relief. These pads also put a little pressure on the nipple so you don't leak milk ( at least that's true for me). Good price here even adding tax-- a couple dollars cheaper than Babies r Us-- where I live. Ah my punctuation/grammar is horrible but I have infant boy/ girl twins & not a lot of sleep lately! :-)

I packed these in my hospital bag before giving birth to my daughter and was thankful for that! My baby had trouble latching on at first, making my nipples sore and cracked. These gel pads were a HUGE help in those early days - if I hadn't had some kind of relief, I might have given up breastfeeding. Not only did these help with my sore nipples, but they were also great when my milk came in and I was engorged. And they're even better if you cool them in the fridge first! Just make sure to gently wash them after each use - if you're nipples have open cracks or sores, you can risk infection by trapping the bacteria between the pad and your breast, only prolonging the healing process. I don't use the pads much anymore now that my daughter and I have established good breastfeeding techniques, but I always keep these on hand just in case!
